Looking out on the sea and all to discover

A stone's throw from the Aquarium, in the splendid setting of the Porto Antico area, you will find the Galata Museum of the Sea, the biggest maritime museum in the Mediterranean, which will allow you to discover the centuries-long relationship between man and the sea through an innovative and alluring layout suited for adults and children.

At Porta Siberia you can visit the original Emanuele Luzzati Museum, which periodically hosts exhibitions of mountings, customs, sketches, models and maquettes and also has a beautiful multimedia area and a library.
For lovers of scientific discoveries mention must be made of the Felice Ippolito National Museum of the Antarctica, created to spread knowledge of the Antarctic continent and the research activities carried out during the Italian expeditions to Antarctica through videos, reconstructions of places, samples and finds.

Looking out on the sea, in one of the oldest areas in the city, there is the Museum-Theatre of the Commenda of San Giovanni di Prè, which has a vast display where historic documents become image and spectacle also thanks to the collaboration between the Galata Museum of the Sea and the Theatre of Sound.
