Over 100 competitors from all over the world challenge one another with pestle blows in the Mortar

Pesto World Championship, held every two years in Genoa at the Ducal Palace. The championship promotes Genoese pesto, true pesto. The selection of the participants takes place in the two preceding years around the world: from Brazil to Norway, from the United States to China.

The competitors, Italian and foreign, young people and less young people, challenge one another to produce exceptional pesto with all the ingredients of the traditional recipe. Not only chefs participate, but cooking lovers in general. They all have to use the authentic ingredients. On the occasion of Pesto championship, Ligurian restaurateurs offer a fixed price menu that includes dishes with pesto.
