Ladies and gentlemen the show begins!

Genoa is a city with a long theatrical tradition behind it; the acting school of the resident theatre has trained actors with international standing and is a much dreamt of destination for many young people that want to undertake this career. The city offers many alternatives for varied audiences: for opera and ballet lovers the Teatro Carlo Felice is a regular venue to enjoy good shows in a warm and elegant milieu. On the outside, a beautiful arcaded portico connects the Galleria Mazzini with the very central Piazza De Ferrari and, on winter evenings, it becomes a place for meetings before and after the shows. The Politeama Genovese and the Teatro Stabile put on works with a lighter tone, but always taken care of in the slightest details and addressing a demanding and attentive audience that loves to keep up with a rich programme full of not-to-be-missed appointments with performers of great fame.

The Teatro dell’Archivolto is a Baroque jewel in the Sampierdarena district: it does didactic shows suited for young people, but also musicals and evenings with whimsical and unfamiliar themes. The Teatro della Tosse, in the heart of Genoa, came into being as a meeting place rich in novelties and cultural stimuli; Niccolò Paganini debuted there in 1795; Gilberto Govi founded his company there in 1916, and today, thanks to the Luzzati Foundation, which has also given it its name, it does eccentric and contemporary shows for a dynamic public open to change.
