Boccadasse

Boccadasse takes its name from its unusual shape, resembling the mouth of a donkey (Boca d'azë or Bocadâze in Genoese dialect). This ancient fishing village is situated a few kilometres from the centre of Genoa

This quaint old village, nestling among the cliffs and surrounded by pastel-coloured houses, is a place of great charm. The landscape around it makes this locality extremely romantic and ideal for taking a stroll, enjoying an ice cream and watching the fishermen mending their nets.
Having no beach facilities and no traffic noise but merely the crashing of the waves, Boccadasse is like a place from the distant past, perfect for spending a relaxing day. The quarter has inspired various singer-songwriters including Ornella Vanoni and Gino Paoli.
