San Terenzo is a hamlet in the municipality of Lerici. It is an ancient village whose original characteristics - close relationship with the sea, a culture and pace of life based on fishing, and a warm, welcoming attitude to visitors - are unaltered by the passing of time. It can boast traces of a thousand years of history and beaches of soft sand which, particularly during the summer season, offer hours of enjoyment for all the family.
San Terenzo castle stands on the western edge of the bay. The rocky promontory on which it is built is also home to a cave whose name, Tana dei Turchi, gives away the defensive origins of the castle, constructed in the fifteenth century to protect against Saracen pirate raids. The arrow slits and moat, later used by the Republic of Genoa, are still clearly visible.
