The two souls that beat at Taggia: a heart immersed between the village and a part on the sea. Not a single nucleus equal to itself but a constellation of different hamlets, each with a particular flavour, all of them together forming a delightful place divided among nature, good cuisine and culture. Arma di Taggia is a little paradise of sea and sun, while Taggia is proud of its agricultural soul: this is the village of the delicious taggiasca olives.

Its treasures, those most loved by gourmets, hide in the kitchens of the houses or in the little restaurants in the villages. You must taste canestrelli, which are biscuits with fennel in them, and so-called figassa, a focaccia often seasoned with peeled tomatoes, anchovy fillets, olives and garlic.

However, what reigns supreme on the Taggia table is the olive, delicious for snacks or elaborate recipes, excellent for production of a scented oil. To taste similar goodies there is no better opportunity than the events held at Taggia during the year. The most important event is Furgari, held on the second Saturday in February in honour of San Benedetto Revelli: it is one of the oldest historical evocations in Liguria and with its historical pageant brings back the atmosphere of 1626. In front of the palazzos and in the historic little squares people light furgari, reeds full of gunpowder, from which a waterfall of fire gushes out. In July, there is the feast of Saint Mary Magdalene of the Wood with the fascinating Dance of Death.
