Thymus

This kind of plant includes 350 species of small perennial plants.

Thyme can be used in soups, vegetables, fillings, sauces, omelette, meat, roasts, stews, braised meat, mushrooms, oils, aromatic vinegar, fish or dried fruit.

Moreover it has digestive, depurative, carminative, balsamic, and stimulant and tonic properties and it can be used for gargles in case of infections of the oral cavity.

For the production of perfumes, the cosmetic industry extracts the essence of serpolino form thyme.

There are different types of thyme:

-vulgaris, it is the most used ingredient in the kitchen ad condiment or spice;

-serpillum, as it grows it covers the surface of the ground, creating a turf;

-citriodorus, this type of thyme has a particular lemon taste;

-pseudolanuginosus, it covers the ground growing at a maximum of 3 cm of height, this thyme resembles moss very much. Thyme can be cultivaed both in the ground and in a vase.
